Description

If you are going to fave my art, please drop a comment telling me why you like it. It only takes a few seconds to do this, and it would make me a happier person. It is only good manners, after all.

Wood: Pine
Length: Thirteen Inches
Core: Unicorn Hair
Flexibility: Unyielding

My first wand, made out of a twig that I found on the sidewalk, most likely from a pine, since the local area is full of them. I carved it with a knife and then sanded it smooth with sandpaper, followed by the decoration of the handle using a small round file. The decoration was filled with black paint and when it was dry, the whole thing got a couple of coats of wood oil.

I'm now working on my second wand project, which is a copy of my Pottermore wand. For this one, I'm documenting the work, so if you want to make your own wand, you can check the tutorial I'll write up for it.

Edit 2012-06-14:
The tutorial is finished!: [link]

Edit 2012-06-19:
I have removed the wand specs from the image itself and put them here in the description. I have also changed the background, added my new wandmaker-logo, given the wand a name and changed the deviation title.

Edit 2012-06-23:
Modified the background slightly

Ok I am no expert on and Fantastic Beast except maybe a few know in the North American area Grafton Brute is actually interesting as are the Romnimai (Muggles call them Flatwoods Monsters far from being monsters they mearly have a very slow by our standards sense of time and to even wizards they look a bit like those films Muggles make with puppets stop-go-motion I think*) but I need to ask from all sources I've studied a Alicorn is not a separate creature to the Unicorn, if memory serves the term Alicorn is the real name for the horn on the forehead of a Unicorn so that is where this wand's name comes from correct?

*Yes I really mean Stop motion animarion like that in The Nightmare Before Christmas, James and the Giant Peach and so on. Just felt like being in character, to a degree if I were from Harry Potter's World I'm of been Muggle born. Also if you're wondering why I say Muggle and not No-Maj as a American I hate the term.

It's like how I hate people calling the blast pipe on a steam locomotive where the clouds of steam come a Smoke Stack! They are funnels not Stacks, Power Plants and sea ships have stacks not locomotives. I grew up with british culture as a kid thanks to a small blue tank engine and so I often use slang from the UK.

Still I feel like Alicorn has been used to describe the horn of a Unicorn.
